Previously, Skywards Frequent Flyers could redeem their reward points (Skywards Miles) for Economy, Business, or First Class Reward Seats alone. This month, members will finally be able to book Classic Reward Seats in Premium Economy and upgrade from Economy with their Skywards Miles.

Booked outright, one-way Classic Reward Seats in Premium Economy start from 15,000 Skywards Miles. Meanwhile, an upgrade from an Economy seat can cost up to 7,020 Skywards Miles – these upgrades can be requested ahead of departure or at the airport check-in desk, of course, subject to availability.
Emirates Premium Economy offers a more spacious travel experience with a pitch of up to 40 inches compared to the 32-34 inches found in Economy. This is accompanied by enhanced service, larger entertainment screens, and more premium perks. Since its introduction in 2022, Emirates has rolled out its Premium Economy product to 66 destinations around the world. Such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide – with more still to come.
Currently, the ability to book these Premium Economy seats is exclusive to Skywards members. However, Emirates has shared plans to extend the option to other airline partners, such as Qantas, in the future.
Divisional Senior Vice President (Emirates Skywards), Dr Nejib Ben-Khedher, says this new development comes thanks to feedback from frequent flyers.
“This has been in development for some time and comes following the huge success, positive feedback, and strong demand by members to utilise Miles on Premium Economy – especially on popular long-haul destinations such as London, Sydney, Melbourne, and New York,” Ben-Khedher explains.
This development follows recent tweaks to their loyalty program, such as revised Cash+Miles rates as well as the rollout of Classic Rewards on all Flydubai flights starting at 5,000 Miles.
